Nature value Szilvásvárad
A snaking scenic path, next to the spring, leads to the Cave. In 1911, Pál Raskó, a forest officer, from Répáshuta started to excavate the cave with the help of an archeologist, Jenő Hillebrand. An 8 000 kg weight cooker was found during the excavations between 1912 and 1925 and taken to the Archeological Department of the National Museum. Most of the artefacts are exhibited in the Orbán House. Bones of mamoths, bears, bison and deer from the Ice Age as well as 30 000 year-old tools made from bone were found in the cave by archeologists. The fact that the cave was used as a stable in the previous centuries made the process of excavation more difficult. The name had come from it. Open: 24 hours a day!
