Sziget Music Festival, Óbudai Island, August 5-12
The granddaddy of all Hungarian music festivals spread over 250 acres on an Island in the north of Budapest is now in its 21st year, and hosting 400,000 fans as a sort of "Eurowoodstock". Though the headliners are always impressive, this huge week-long extravaganza is now far more than just a music event, with a whirl of bars, information stands, cultural events and attractions. This year's special attractions will include the Cirque du Sziget.
The sziget festival takes place on Óbudai Island, and runs for a week (though there is often a "day 0" which has just Hungarian Bands
