Hévíz, the fountain of life

There are many spas and hot springs in the world, and a lot in Hungary, but nothing compares to the natural thermal lake of Hévíz.

The lake of Hévíz is the biggest biologically active, natural thermal lake in the world. Its temperature is affected by the combination of cold and hot spring waters coming from underground. The medicinal water breaks out from the spring cave on the surface at the rate of approx. 410 litres per second and with a temperature of 40°C. According to that delivery, the water in the lake changes every three and a half days and keeps uniformly clean.

Those who wish to get healthy and beautiful can enjoy the beneficiary effects of the thermal water all year round. In the summer the water temperature can reach 38 degrees Celsius and even on the coldest winter days doesn't drop below 22 degrees Celsius. It is a unique experience to swim in water lily carpeted turquoise water in Hévíz!

Hévíz is situated in southwest Hungary at the western corner of Lake Balaton, only two hours from Budapest. The name literally means 'hot water'. Its waters were already widely used by the Romans, however facilities for bona fide bathing culture were created by the Count György Festetics 1st in the 18th century. Thanks to the knowledge, accumulated since then, and to the expertise, hundreds of thousands have regained their health, so the Traditional Hévíz Therapy has become a trademark of the town.

The water of Lake Hévíz is unparalleled in treating and curing patients suffering from rheumatic and locomotor problems. The Hévíz treatment is suitable for not only curing people but for prevention and relaxation as well. There is ample choice for those who are in for wellness and a healthy way of life.

Hévíz with the fresh colours of nature and the spa town's quiet atmosphere is an ideal place for relaxation, recovery and complete physical and mental recreation. Take time for yourself, be prepared for the challenges of the hardworking weekdays with health preserving bath cures!
