International Wine Festival

The Buda Castle hosts the Budapest international wine festival each autumn, where producers and wine experts mingle and represent and taste great wines from wineries new and old, in the beautiful surroundings of the Royal Palace in the Buda Castle, Budapest, Hungary. There are also a great many cultural performances and wine-related events.

This year's festival runs from September 11th-15th and is expected to attact many thousands of visitors, as the largest wine event in the country. of course, a great many people will want to taste and purchase wines both famous and obscure, but there are plenty of other things happening too!

One of the main events of the festival will be the great wine auction. The proceeds of this will go to the Hungarian Maltese Charity, which coincidentally celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The 4 days of the festival will feature several great performances, such as jazz quartets and pop bands (full details on the festival website.)

From noon until 3:45 on Sunday 15th September, the harvest parade will wend its way from the Holy Trinity Square over to Tóth Árpád Sétany and then down to Dísz Square and on to the top of the Funicular railway at St George Square. (see the map on the english programme pages of the festival website.)  This will be followed by an afternoon of folk music and dance Gala on stage, concluding with a memorable concert by the Csík band.
