Thermal Baths by night - Cinetrip Budapest
Cinetrip parties employ spotlights, banks of LEDs, neon lights, lasers, dance music and unusually for a dance event, lots and lots of steaming water; thus it is a treat for all the senses! These parties started in 1998 and were an immediate hit with youth in Budapest and remain so today.
While the original venue was elsewhere, they are now held at the Széchenyi Thermal Baths (Szecska, Sech-ka parties) in the Summer and at the Lukacs Baths in the winter. These run on Saturdays through the summer, while the wintertime ones (held every Saturday from 5th October onwards) are known as Magic Bath Parties. (Entrance to either is 6,000 HUF/ 22 EUR) Tickets can be booked online, and this is advised in the case of winter Magic Bath parties, as the space inside the Lukács Baths is limited and it's first come, first served. If you do decide to buy your tickets at the door, beware that this can only be done in cash. Please note that though the Lukács baths and others offer free and discounted entry to normal bathing periods during the Budapest Winter Invitation promotion, there is no free entry for these special Saturday late night parties.
Twice a year, there are larger extravaganzas (Entrance 12,000 HUF/ 40EUR) - the summer one is a special cleansing bath event to help people get ready for the Sziget Festival starting in the 5th August, and there is another in midwinter.
The party is actually IN and around the pools as well, so a swim-suit and flip flops are obligatory! If you forget everything, naturally non-too-cheap items can be purchased on site.
