City of Pécs on New York Times' toplist

New York Times's 'The 46 Places to Go in 2013' compilation picked Pécs in Hungary as one of the best places on Earth to visit in 2013. Find out why!

It's a great honour to be in the sight of such a great medium, like New York Times. But altogether Pécs (pr. Petsh) is really worth it to visit. Pécs came before on the list for such great cities like Washington, Casablanca, Paris and whole countries like Ireland and Republic of Congo. We congratulate!

Pécs is 210 km from Budapest on motorway M6.

Pécs's architecture is a wonderful mixture of Turkish, Habsburg, Muslim, Catholic styles. From 2009-2010 the city went through a huge renovation and development. New concert hall opened, and main squares became more tourist-friendly. In 2010 Pécs was chosen as the European Culture Capital.

‘Everywhere, visitors will find buffed and burnished public squares awaiting them.' — writes Sarah Wildman in New York Times' online article.
