Lackfies made Knight- castle built from the Old tower and joining building wing on their domain, in the second half of 14th century, After 1397. King Sigismund inhereted the castle and domain. King Sigismund –later German Roman Emperor-stayed here several time, lords, kings, deputies visited him within the walls of the four- towered castle. After 1467, King Matthias spent a lot of time here as occasion served of hunts in Vértes hills. The castle was occupied by Turks at first in 1543, during the turkish wars it suffered from 15 sieges. Meanwhile the buliding was reconstructed, and belted with modren screens, rondell, three italian corner turrets and moat served as defence. Count Joseph Esterházy purchased the castle and domain in 1727. The building was solidified during the XIX. century, it’s facade was reconstructed in romantic and historical style.
