Although the biggest name acts are usually on the last night of the week-long music extravaganza on the island in the middle of the Danube River, this particular concert is planned for the day before the start of the festival proper, the so-called "-1 day" (10th August)

The larger-than-life French actor has two connections to Budapest at the moment. Firstly he is slated to play Napoleon (bit tall for that role, no?) in an outdoor performance of the Hungarian Opera Háry János on August 1st-2nd. Secondly, this actor is also a keen viniculturalist and plans to open a wine bar here in downtown Budapest. He already has two restaurants, one in Canada and two in Paris and he is certainly said to know his wine, so we look forward to that!

Brad filmed parts of "World War Z" here. After a problem at a filming location in Russia, lots of the great final street battle with the zombies was switched to Hungary. Interestingly enough, a minor scandal ensued as the film company flew in trunkloads of weapons in a plrivate plane, to use in the mock-battle. To add to the dodginess, the weapons were apparently completely live and not deactivated, so they were then seized in a movie-worthy raid by the Hungarian anti-terror forces. After all that, the film changed its artisitc direction during editing and as much as 12 minutes of moslty Budapest battle scenes were cut out, so we never got to enjoy that part!
